See What They Have To Say...

I was very pleased with the relationship that I developed with my therapist.  She was very helpful to me while seeing her and will use her again if ever needed.

Very nice place! My husband and I went to The Calli Institute this week and I was so impressed with everything!  The staff at the front desk is very polite and informative and our therapist, Amanda is incredible!  The atmosphere is very different than any other counseling place we have been and it makes a huge difference.  We plan to return weekly!
- Shauna
I am amazed at how well the staff and nurse practitioner work to help me get my meds and appointments met at a proper and efficient time!
- Sam
I have been to a bunch of different therapists, but this place is by far the BEST!  It is so comfortable, it is like being in someone’s home!  The staff is very respectful and my therapist, Nicole, is excellent!  I am so happy I found her!

What to Expect

Otis_171_of_71.jpgThe decision to begin therapy or start medications is often accompanied by some amount of anxiety or ambivalence. This is why we make the process as easy as possible.

The first step is to give us a call. Our intake staff will collect some basic information from you and answer any questions you might have about our services and clinicians. They will then help you select a provider who is the best “fit” for your personality style and the issues you wish to address.

Before your first appointment, we ask that you complete some paperwork that includes a registration form and health history. These forms can be downloaded from our website. The link is located on the main page in the top left corner. Bring your completed paperwork with you along with your insurance card and photo ID. If you wish to complete your paperwork at the clinic, please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment so that you and your provider are able to start at your appointed time.

During the first one to two sessions, your therapist will focus on getting to know you and helping you understand what happens during therapy, including issues of privacy and the usual course of therapy. Your provider will spend time asking questions about why you chose to seek treatment and also about your life growing up, past and current relationships, and usual coping patterns. Learning as much about where you have been will help your provider understand where you are now and how to help you get to where you want to be.

Therapy is NOT about us fixing you. Therapy IS about us joining with you on your journey toward health and well-being. We are here to support you and to teach you how to make the changes in your life that are important to you. The work you do in therapy is not always easy and can sometimes stir up feelings that were not anticipated. This is a good thing! It means you are courageous and willing to grow. You will never be alone in this process.

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon can I start?
We are generally able to offer initial therapy intakes within 1-2 weeks. First-time psychiatry appointments are generally available within 3-4 weeks.

How long are therapy sessions?
Each therapy hour is generally 45 – 50 minutes. Psychiatry appointments are generally 20 – 40 minutes after the initial assessment, which is about an hour.

What does being in therapy or taking medications say about me?
Being in therapy means that you or someone who cares about you have recognized that there is a problem you need help figuring out. Sometimes problems get bigger than what we can handle on our own or with our friends and family. Getting support and guidance from a professional can help us look at things in a new way. Being in therapy means that you have the courage to do something different! For some people, medications may be indicated to help our bodies function better so that the other things we need to do to care for ourselves is possible.

How long does it take to start feeling better?
This is unique to each individual. Some people report feeling a sense of relief the very first time they meet their therapist. In some cases, people might actually feel worse before they get better. Therapy is not easy and sometimes the process can take months or even years. It all depends on your goals, your willingness and the effort you put toward growing your self.

Who else will know I’m in therapy?
All health services are private and confidential. We cannot disclose any information about you or even acknowledge that you are a client without your written consent. There are only a few exceptions that apply in emergency situations and if there is concern about your safety or the safety of others.

Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We have contracts with most major health plans in Minnesota as well as Medicare. If you have questions about coverage, contact your insurance provider’s customer service. If you do not have insurance or do not wish to use your insurance, please contact us to receive information about our fee schedule. You are responsible for all charges that are not covered by insurance.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
Yes, many of our providers offer evening and Saturday appointments.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?
If you need to cancel your appointment, please call 24 hours in advance. It is our policy to charge for appointments that are cancelled with less than 24 hours notice except when it is not permitted by state or federal regulation. All charges must be paid in full prior to your next appointment.

What if I miss my appointment?
It is our policy to charge for appointments that are missed except when it is not permitted by state or federal regulation. Clients who miss more than 3 consecutive appointments or show a pattern of missing regular appointments may be discharged from service at the clinician’s discretion.

Can I bring my child(ren) with me to my appointments?
Calli is not able to provide childcare for children while you are receiving services. Therefore, we ask that you do not bring children who require supervision with you to your appointment.
