October 10th is World Mental Health Awareness Day. This is an opportunity to increase knowledge about mental health issues, reach out to those affected in our community, and practice some well-deserved self care for ourselves along the way. This year we wanted to present you with a fun challenge…well 10 fun challenges actually…that we hope will inspire you to take part in this year’s event.

How It Works

Starting today until Saturday, October 10th, we’ll be posting one new challenge on Facebook that we encourage you to try yourself and with friends. The goal is to spread some good vibes in our social groups and help everyone get into the spirit of practicing healthy habits that benefit our mental health and wellness.

Leave us a comment to tell us about your story or experience with each challenge, too. And remember to share our daily challenges with friends and loved ones.

Ready for your first daily challenge? Let’s get started!

Two different pairs of socks in bed.

Challenge 1:

Get 8 hours of sleep tonight.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: Sleep and mental health have a complicated relationship. Sleep deprivation is linked to certain conditions, including depression and mood disorders, so it’s essential that you try to get at least the recommended amount of hours of sleep per night (between 7-9 hours) to renew your energy, balance your hormones, and strengthen your immune system.

Having trouble sleeping? That’s okay. We all do. Check out our blog post on how sleep affects your mental health for tips on how to improve your sleep time and get a restful night’s sleep.

Try this challenge tonight, and if you’re feeling competitive, practice this tip for the next 10 days, too.

Remember, every day we’ll introduce a new challenge, so be sure to check back on our Facebook page daily.
